Position Description
ChristianaCare is currently seeking a full-time Registered Nurse for our Cell Therapy and Transplant Coordinator position. The home base for this position will be the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center located in Newark, DE.
In this role, you will collaborate with a team of 2 nurses, an Access Coordinator, and a Program Manager to support 8 Hematology Providers.
Work Schedule
- Monday-Friday, day shift
- No weekends or holidays required
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides patient education concerning auto and allo transplants and CAR-T therapy.
- Follows pre-transplant SOPs to ensure workups are performed, including cardiac, pulmonary and dental clearance for auto and allo transplant recipients, and required lab work completed for all donors and recipients.
- Facilitates related donor, non-related donor, auto and CAR-T workups and collections.
- Maintains donor and recipient confidentiality.
- Develops relationship with ancillary services to arrange and expedite line placement, collection, testing, resulting, and charging (both internal and external services).
- Develops relationship with the NMDP.
- Assures continuity of patient care from outpatient to inpatient (including pre- and post-transplant) between the referring institutions and physicians.
- Assures effectiveness of operational procedures to meet program standards.
- Maintains clinical record and database required by internal and external agencies for statistical monitoring of morbidity, mortality, cost effectiveness and patient management.
- Participates in internal audits as needed for quality management, as well as external audits and accreditation activities.
- Participates in and provides data for SCT Quarterly meetings.
- Participates in onboarding of new services as needed.
- Leads weekly SCT interdisciplinary review board.
- Completes annual education for accreditation standards
- Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices. Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
- Performs other duties as required.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- BSN preferred; ADN considered with agreement of completion of BSN in 3 years.
- Two years oncology/hematology experience required.
- Cell Therapy/Transplant experience preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Special Requirements
- Current nursing licensure in the state of DE (multi-state)
- BLS Certification
- Oncology Certification preferred
